Hurray! You bought an amazing candle…now treat it right!
Trim it.
You always want to trim your wick to 1/4” before lighting. If you are relighting your candle, make sure there is no mushrooming on top of the wick before you light it.
Let it burn, baby.
Any time you light your candle, keep it lit until the wax pool fills the entire diameter of the wax. This will allow for an appropriate “scent throw” and will prevent memory rings.
Be safe.
A candle is an open flame after all. Always keep your candle on a heat resistant surface and never leave it burning unattended. Always keep out of the reach of children and pets, and avoid drafty areas.
Put it out.
If you ever experience any excessive smoke, or if the flame is touching the container you need to extinguish the flame immediately.
Due to the nature of 100% soy wax, if your candle experiences a drastic change in temperature it may deposit a little oil on top of the candle. This does not affect the candle’s smell or integrity, it simply requires you to wipe the top with a tissue before lighting.
Keep it tidy.
If you do end up having to trim your wick before lighting, make sure you remove the trimmed wick debris from the candle.
